When the Office accepts a trade mark application it is published in the Patents Office Official Journal, which is available to view on the website.  There is then a three month period within which parties may file observations or an opposition to its registration.  If opposition is not filed against the trade mark application, the applicant will be requested to pay the registration fee of €177 to complete registration of the trade mark.

The publication of the trade mark will include details of the applicants name and address.

When the trade mark appears in the Official Journal, the applicant may receive unsolicited approaches from companies/entities offering registration services or requesting payment of fees in relation to this trade mark. The only office authorised to collect fees for the processing and administration of a trade mark is the Patents Office. Anybody in receipt of such approaches or payment requests may contact the Irish Patents Office to confirm their authenticity.
